Coating Process of Honeycomb Cordierite Support with Ni/Boehmite Gels

This study presents the development of a method for washcoating Ni/boehmite gels, prepared by sol–gel process, onto surface commercial ceramic monolith. Indeed, cordierite monolith in honeycomb shape was used as substrate Ni/Al2O3 deposition. An experimental assembly made order to apply coating on surface. Different suspensions were with various viscosities, and multiple parameters tested withdrawal speed, or number impregnations. It observed that simple deposition gel led formation coating. morphologies observed, defects highlighted cracks, coating-free areas aggregates. Among studied, pH sol appeared play role even more important than viscosity. acidified nitric acid showed which almost free cracks large Moreover, use slurry mix calcined alumina particles colloidal boehmite also an interesting path. The beneficial influence attributed better resistance against stresses induced during drying, deviation gels grains.
